Leh, Apr 4: In a move aligned with the Union Territory administration’s push for digital governance, an e-Office training programme was conducted for officers and officials of the Sub-Divisional Magistrate and Tehsildar offices in Kharu, aiming to facilitate the transition towards paperless functioning in revenue administration.
The initiative is part of a broader directive from the UT administration to implement the e-Office system across all government offices, including those at the sub-divisional and tehsil levels, to streamline procedures and enhance transparency in public service delivery.
Speaking at the session, Sub-Divisional Magistrate Kharu, Mohd Shabir underscored the need for adopting digital systems in governance. He said the e-Office platform would contribute to more efficient, transparent, and accountable functioning of offices, while urging staff members to develop a thorough understanding of its operations.
He also referred to directions issued by the UT administration, stating that both the Chief Secretary and the Deputy Commissioner have called for the mandatory implementation of e-Office across Ladakh’s administrative framework.
Officials indicated that, in compliance with these instructions, the SDM and Tehsildar offices in Kharu are set to fully adopt the system, with the objective of ensuring a paperless workflow and improving overall administrative efficiency.
The transition builds upon existing digital infrastructure in the subdivision, where revenue services are already being delivered online, enabling residents to access services in a timely and hassle-free manner.
The training programme, organised with the support of the Information Technology Department of UT Ladakh, included practical sessions on core components of the e-Office system. Experts demonstrated functionalities such as e-file management, use of digital signatures, and workflow tracking mechanisms designed to strengthen institutional accountability.
Participants responded positively to the programme, expressing readiness to integrate the system into their routine administrative processes. All officers and officials from the SDM and Tehsil offices in Kharu attended the session.
