Leh, Apr 4: A two-day HPC training programme aimed at strengthening foundational competencies among students commenced across Nyoma, Nubra and Durbuk zones of Leh on Thursday, drawing participation from over 220 teachers across the three regions.
According to officials, 71 teachers from Nyoma, 87 from Nubra and 65 from Durbuk zone are attending the training sessions, which are being organised jointly by the respective Zonal Education Offices (ZEOs) in collaboration with the District Institute of Education and Training (DIET), Leh.
The programme seeks to enhance classroom practices and improve learning outcomes by equipping teachers with competency-based teaching approaches. Education authorities said the initiative aligns with ongoing efforts to reinforce foundational learning among school students in the district.
During the inaugural session, officials from the ZEOs, along with representatives from DIET Leh, welcomed participants and urged them to actively engage in the sessions. They underlined the role of continuous professional development in improving teaching standards and fostering essential competencies among students.
The training is being conducted by Resource Persons deputed through the Chief Education Office, Leh. These trainers have previously undergone specialised instruction as Master Trainers at Nanritam, West Bengal. They are guiding participants on the use of Foundational Learning Textbooks developed by Nanritam, which have already been distributed to schools across the district through DIET, following directives from the School Education Department, Ladakh.
In the initial sessions, Resource Persons outlined seven core competencies and five essential skills that form the basis of the HPC framework. The sessions focused on clarifying programme objectives and expected outcomes, with an emphasis on strengthening competency-based learning among students.
Officials stated that the training programme is expected to provide teachers with practical tools and strategies for effective classroom implementation, thereby contributing to improved student learning across the three zones.
