Kargil, Mar 31: Addressing long-pending compensation concerns linked to a key road project, Dr. Mohd Jaffer Akhoon on Monday cleared tree compensation paperwork on the spot and assured early disbursal of remaining claims during a meeting with a delegation from Chumikchan.
The delegation called on the Chairman and Chief Executive Councillor of the Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council Kargil, seeking intervention in the delayed release of compensation for land and trees affected by the construction of the Aba Groung–Btakhar–Chumikchan link road in Sankoo.
Raising concerns over the pace of disbursement, the representatives said that several beneficiaries were yet to receive dues despite the progress of work on the ground. They urged the Council to expedite the process to ease the difficulties faced by affected households.
Officials present in the meeting said Dr. Akhoon heard the delegation at length and assured that all necessary steps would be taken to ensure that pending claims are processed without delay. In an immediate response, he facilitated the clearance of documentation related to tree compensation, providing relief to beneficiaries awaiting procedural approvals.
The delegation also placed on record its appreciation for the developmental works underway in the constituency, noting improvements in infrastructure and public services.
The interaction underscores the continuing focus of the Hill Council on addressing compensation-related grievances arising from infrastructure expansion, particularly in rural areas where project-linked claims remain a recurring concern. Authorities indicated that follow-up action would be initiated to streamline the disbursal of land compensation in accordance with established norms.
