Kargil, Jun 28: Senior BJP leader and former Chairman of the Jammu & Kashmir Legislative Council, Haji Anayat Ali, has made a strong appeal to the Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, Brig. (Dr.) BD Mishra (Retd.), seeking urgent reconsideration of the recent decision to exclude Hundurman Broq from the list of ALC (Actual Line of Control) notified areas.
In an official letter dated June 28, 2025, Ali expressed deep concern over the Tribal Affairs Department’s notification issued on June 27, which omitted Hundurman Broq—a frontline village located on the Line of Control—from the updated list of ALC notified areas. He stated that the exclusion has caused dismay among the residents, many of whom have historically contributed to national security and have deep-rooted ties with the Indian Armed Forces.
Ali emphasized that Hundurman Broq was liberated during the 1971 war and has since remained a frontline settlement, bearing the weight of both military and civilian responsibilities. He highlighted the sacrifices made by the local people, including working in high-risk zones as porters, guides, and support staff, often under shelling and extreme conditions. According to him, several families have lost their members due to their contributions in such challenging environments.
He noted that the removal of Hundurman Broq from the ALC notification not only undermines the village’s past contributions but also represents an administrative error that could deeply impact the morale of its people. Ali framed this decision as an injustice to generations that have served the country without recognition.
Appealing as a native of the region, Ali requested immediate attention and corrective action from the UT administration to ensure the village is reinstated in the list. He expressed hope that under the current leadership, the rightful entitlements and recognition due to the people of Hundurman Broq will be restored.
The letter reiterated the demand for fair treatment of border villages, whose residents remain deeply involved in supporting India’s presence along the sensitive LoC region.
