
Kargil, Jun 28: The “Cultural Journey – Sindhu Darshan Festival,” organized under the Cultural Ministry of India by the North Zone Cultural Centre, Patiala, reached Kargil as part of its multi-state tour across North India. The event was hosted at PM Shri School Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya, Khumbathang, drawing wide participation from students, teachers, and local dignitaries.
The festival, which runs from June 13 to June 29, 2025, features traditional performances from various Indian states, showcasing the country’s rich dance, music, folk art, and drama. Upon arrival in Kargil, the cultural troupe was welcomed warmly by Headmistress Bindu Gulia, along with the school’s staff and students. Dignitaries were honored with traditional Ladakhi “khata” scarves.
The event began with a lively Bhangra performance from Punjab, followed by a Radha-Krishna-themed dance from Uttar Pradesh. A Rajasthani artist captivated the audience with a performance balancing eight pots and a sword dance. Assam’s Bihu dance, Haryana’s folk tunes, and Jharkhand’s colorful Chhau dance with vibrant masks added to the cultural display.
Assistant Director Ravinder Sharma, who accompanied the cultural team, thanked the school for hosting the event and appreciated the support of the faculty and students. Office Secretary Jagjeet Singh shared the aims of the festival and praised the enthusiasm of the young audience. Tsewang Rigzin, Programme Coordinator from the Ladakh Cultural Academy, also addressed the gathering and honored the school leadership and guests.
Headmistress Bindu Gulia welcomed all participants and expressed her joy at hosting the event, stating her hope that the school would continue to be a venue for such programs in the future.
The event concluded with a vote of thanks by senior teacher Rajesh Mishra.
