RAJKOT, Dec 9 : Aam Aadmi Party leader Arvind Kejriwal accused the Gujarat government of unprecedented oppression after being denied permission to meet jailed farmers and AAP workers in Rajkot Central Jail, claiming it surpasses British colonial tyranny.
Addressing a press conference, Kejriwal revealed he had sought prior approval to visit the 46 remaining detainees from the 88 farmers and AAP leaders arrested in October for protesting in Haddad village, Botad district. “Am I a terrorist? These are innocent farmers, not criminals—yet greater tyranny prevents me from meeting them,” he fumed, drawing parallels to freedom fighter Bhagat Singh’s companions who faced no such barriers.
Allegations of Custodial Abuse and Neglect
Kejriwal alleged authorities withheld food and water from the farmers for 24 hours post-arrest and subjected them to beatings in custody, aiming to crush their spirit. He saluted the farmers’ families for defying BJP pressure to meet him, warning that even mythical tyrants like Ravana and Kansa faced divine retribution.
Broader Attacks on BJP Governance
The former Delhi CM lambasted the BJP for failing to curb Gujarat’s rampant drug crisis, which he said destroys families alongside exam paper leaks silencing youth voices. Declaring AAP as the sole alternative to the “colluding” BJP-Congress duo, Kejriwal vowed that a regime change would quash all “false FIRs” within 24 hours and jail harassing ministers. “After 30 years, Gujarat’s people must end BJP’s reign—AAP is your only hope,” he asserted during his state visit.
