Srinagar, Jan 9: An Army jawan lost his life after slipping from a height while conducting a patrolling operation in Jammu and Kashmir’s Baramulla district, officials said on Friday.
The deceased has been identified as Subedar Hira Lal, a resident of Akbarpur area in Haryana. According to officials, the incident occurred during a night patrolling mission in the Fatahgarh Sheeri area of the north Kashmir district.
Officials said Subedar Hira Lal lost his footing and slipped from a height during the patrol. He sustained critical injuries in the fall and was immediately rushed to Government Medical College Baramulla for emergency medical treatment.
However, the jawan was brought to the hospital in an unconscious condition. Despite immediate medical attention, doctors at the facility declared him brought dead on arrival.
The incident has cast a pall of gloom among the Army personnel deployed in the region. Further details regarding the circumstances of the fall and subsequent formalities are awaited, officials added.
