ADDC Leh chairs preparatory meet

Leh, Sept 16: With the Ladakh Festival 2025 around the corner, Additional District Development Commissioner (ADDC) Leh, Sonam Nurboo (JKAS), chaired a review meeting on Monday, placing special emphasis on archery events and cultural hospitality for visiting delegations.
The festival, scheduled from September 21 to 24, will showcase Ladakh’s living traditions and attract visitors from across the region and beyond. Reviewing preparations with departmental officers and stakeholders at the DC Office, Nurboo underscored that archery must be made a major draw by encouraging maximum participation, including tourists, to create a more engaging atmosphere.
Equally stressed was the need to ensure comfort for the delegation from Tawang. The ADDC suggested that their itinerary include a monastery visit, allowing them to experience Ladakh’s spiritual and cultural ethos first-hand.
In addition to these highlights, the meeting finalised venues, event schedules and committee responsibilities covering areas such as cultural performances, reception, venue management, horticulture, handloom, and beautification. Adequate medical facilities were also directed to be put in place.
Calling for collective responsibility, Nurboo reminded officials that success depends on coordinated effort and urged committees not to treat their duties lightly. He announced that another review meeting will be held on September 19 to fine-tune arrangements.
The Ladakh Festival is expected to once again transform Leh into a hub of colour, tradition, and celebration, with archery and cultural exchange at the heart of this year’s attractions.
