Leh, Sept 16: The University of Ladakh is set to mark World Tourism Day 2025 with a one-day seminar on “Tourism and Sustainable Transformation” scheduled for September 26. The event, to be held in hybrid mode, will bring together academicians and scholars to deliberate on evolving trends in tourism and its role in fostering sustainable practices.
The Department of Travel and Tourism Management is organizing the seminar at the University’s Conference Hall while also making it accessible through Google Meet, thereby ensuring participation from a wider audience. The programme will commence at 11 a.m. with the special presence of Vice-Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) Saket Kushwaha.
The seminar will feature addresses by distinguished speakers including Prof. Prashant K. Gautam of Panjab University, Prof. Suman Sharma, Dean of STTHM at the Central University of Himachal Pradesh, and Prof. Nitin Vyas of Himachal Pradesh University, Shimla. Their insights are expected to enrich discussions on how tourism can adapt to contemporary challenges while supporting ecological balance and community development.
Participants may register by September 24 with a nominal fee of ₹100. E-certificates will be provided to all who successfully register and attend. The initiative underscores the University’s commitment to fostering academic engagement on tourism’s transformative potential, aligning with global efforts to promote responsible and inclusive travel.
