Ghaziabad, October 8: Chief of the Air Staff Air Chief Marshal A.P. Singh on Thursday said the Indian Air Force (IAF) has significantly strengthened its operational capabilities and is prepared to meet emerging security challenges.
Addressing the 94th Air Force Day celebrations at Hindan Air Base in Ghaziabad, Air Chief Marshal Singh said that over its 94-year journey, the IAF has developed into an exceptional, capable, network-centric and multi-domain force.
He said the IAF’s operational capabilities are progressing in the right direction and asserted that the force remains alert, committed and ready to respond to any challenge.
The Air Chief also paid tribute to air warriors who made the supreme sacrifice in the service of the nation.
Referring to conflicts in different parts of the world, Air Chief Marshal Singh said recent developments have demonstrated the importance of air power in protecting a nation’s interests.
He also highlighted the IAF’s role during Operation Sindoor, saying the force demonstrated the speed and effectiveness of its combat operations.
“Our operational capabilities are growing in the right direction,” he said, adding that the IAF would continue working to meet, and exceed, the expectations of the nation.
Speaking about his retirement on October 31, Air Chief Marshal Singh described serving as the IAF chief as his “biggest fortune” and said it was a matter of great pride for him.
The celebrations at Hindan Air Base featured a ceremonial parade and displays of several frontline combat platforms and weapon systems. The event was attended by the three Service Chiefs, senior military officials and former IAF chiefs.
Air Chief Marshal Singh arrived at the parade venue in a vintage car from the 1960s, while three helicopters flew past in the ‘Dhwaj’ formation.
The IAF also displayed several key platforms, including Rafale, Su-30 MKI and Jaguar fighter aircraft, along with LCH Prachand and ALH Dhruv helicopters and various weapon and air-defence systems.
