Cancer Screening Camp Inaugurated in Kargil
Kargil, Sept 23: Member of Parliament Ladakh, Mohd Hanifa Jan, today urged residents to take full advantage of a free cancer screening camp being held in Kargil, emphasizing the importance of early detection in improving treatment outcomes. The camp, organised by Al Reza Health Care and Research Foundation in collaboration with Yatharth Super Speciality Hospital, Noida, was inaugurated by Chairman and Chief Executive Councillor of LAHDC Kargil, Dr. Mohd Jaffer Akhoon, at the District Hospital Kargil.
The inauguration was attended by MP Hanifa Jan, President of Jamiat Ul Ulama Isna Asharia Kargil Sheikh Nazir Mehdi, President of Al Reza Dr. Mohammad Abbas, and a team of specialist delegates from Yatharth Hospital.
Dr. Mohammad Abbas highlighted that the initiative is aimed at bringing cancer screening and awareness directly to the community, noting that the number of cancer cases in Kargil has been rising steadily. He encouraged residents to utilize the services for early detection, which can greatly improve treatment success rates.
CEC Dr. Mohd Jaffer Akhoon emphasized the need to support underprivileged patients and called on hospital authorities to provide maximum assistance, pointing out that NGO and crowdfunding resources are limited. He expressed hope that the Union Territory administration would allocate dedicated funds for super-speciality treatments for economically disadvantaged patients.
Both MP Hanifa Jan and Sheikh Nazir Mehdi praised Yatharth Super Speciality Hospital and Al Reza Health Care and Research Foundation for bringing the initiative to Kargil, highlighting its role in enhancing healthcare accessibility in the region.
The camp continues throughout the day at the District Hospital Kargil, offering residents an opportunity for free cancer screening and medical guidance.
