Jammu, Sept 20: The Udhampur Police unearthed a prostitution racket on Saturday after raiding a spa allegedly functioning as a brothel in Jammu and Kashmir’s Udhampur district, leading to the arrest of seven persons.
Acting on specific intelligence, a police team conducted a raid at Blue Lotus Spa, situated in a private building in the Barrian locality of Udhampur town. The operation revealed that the premises, ostensibly offering wellness services, were being clandestinely used for flesh trade.
During the raid, seven individuals, including three men and four women, were apprehended on charges of involvement in immoral trafficking. The detainees were immediately taken into custody for questioning. Officials stated that the establishment was being systematically exploited as a house of prostitution under the cover of a legitimate spa business.
An FIR has been registered at Police Station Udhampur under No. 342/2025, invoking Sections 3, 4, 5, and 7 of the Immoral Traffic (Prevention) Act, which pertain to managing a brothel, procuring persons for prostitution, living on earnings from such activities, and soliciting. Authorities confirmed that all accused will face due process of law, with further investigation to trace the larger nexus and possible involvement of other facilitators.
Police sources maintained that preliminary inquiry indicates the operation had been running for some time, and efforts are underway to identify the kingpins behind the racket. The arrested women have been shifted to protective custody while legal proceedings continue.
Law enforcement agencies reiterated their commitment to curbing organised vice activities in the region and warned that establishments indulging in such illicit practices under commercial guise would face stern action.
