Drass, Aug 31: Government Degree College Drass successfully concluded a three-week Pickle Making and Entrepreneurship Development Training Programme under the Skill to Entrepreneurship Connect initiative. The programme, held from 10th to 30th August 2023, witnessed enthusiastic participation of 40 trainees, including community youth and college students.
The comprehensive training combined hands-on sessions in pickle making, financial literacy modules, expert talks, and entrepreneurship development workshops. A special highlight was the three-day Enterprising Ladakh module, which provided participants with exposure to real-world entrepreneurial experiences and success stories.
The programme was enriched by eminent resource persons including Shabir Hussain Fayaz, Deputy Director, Tropicalist Trust and CEO, Kargil Agro Solution & Logistics, UT Ladakh; Haseena Batool, State Manager Ladakh Rural Livelihood Mission; Dr. Zahoor Ahmad, Faculty EDII Ahmedabad; Padma Lazes, Project Officer Enterprising Ladakh; Akbar Ali, Manager SBI; Mohd Ali, Manager JK Bank; Shujat Ali Mir, Convener Skill Drass; and Dr. Javed I. Naqi, UT Nodal Officer Ladakh. The programme was effectively coordinated by Rizwan Ali, Nodal Officer Enterprising Ladakh, GDC Drass.
The efforts of the Principal MNM Shabani was appreciated for organizing such highly impactful program.
An important milestone of the training was the launch of “Drass Pickle”, the first in-house product of GDC Drass skill trainees—symbolizing the spirit of innovation and self-reliance.
At the valedictory session, participants were felicitated with certificates in recognition of their dedication and successful completion of the training.
Speakers lauded the efforts of the trainees and encouraged them to transform their newly acquired skills into sustainable entrepreneurial ventures that would benefit both the community and the local economy.
The initiative reflects the vision of empowering Ladakhi youth with skills that connect directly to entrepreneurship.
