Kargil, Jun 19: In a proud moment for Ladakh Police, Sub Inspector Mehdi Ali Khan of the District Police Kargil has been awarded the prestigious DG BRO Commendation Certificate and Medal for 2025. The honour was presented during a felicitation ceremony held at Project Vijayak HQ Kargil, attended by Brigadier Rahul Oberoi CE and SSP Kargil, Shree Raam R, IPS.
SI Mehdi received this recognition for his outstanding dedication and service during the harsh winter conditions along the Zojila Axis. His tireless efforts, along with his team, ensured the safety of travelers despite facing extreme weather and heavy snowfall. The team worked for over 16 continuous hours in sub-zero temperatures where roads became slippery and highly unsafe for vehicles.
Under SI Mehdi’s leadership, the Minamarg police team responded swiftly and efficiently by mobilising rescue equipment, manpower, and machinery. In close coordination with BRO officials, they made it possible for every single vehicle and commuter to pass through the treacherous stretch safely.
Their presence and readiness on the ground were crucial in maintaining the flow of traffic and providing a secure route through the challenging terrain. This operation was not only a display of courage and resilience but also a reflection of their unwavering sense of duty.
Despite overwhelming odds, SI Mehdi and his team never wavered. Their dedication met and exceeded the expectations of the administration, the public, and all those who relied on their work.
