Jammu: BJP spokesperson Gaurav Gupta on Wednesday warned of a disturbing rise in “white-collar radicalisation”, saying that educated professionals — including doctors, engineers, and researchers — are increasingly being lured into terror networks.
Citing the Delhi Red Fort blast, the Faridabad explosives recovery, and the Ricin bio-terror plot in Gujarat, Gupta called the trend “a new and dangerous phase” in India’s battle against terrorism. “It is alarming that intellect and technical expertise are being weaponised. Terrorism has moved beyond jungles and hideouts — it now lurks in classrooms, labs, and hospitals,” he said.
Condemning the Delhi blast as “a brutal assault on India’s peace and unity,” Gupta said security agencies are acting decisively under Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah to bring perpetrators to justice.
Terming the Ricin conspiracy a “red alert,” he warned that terror outfits experimenting with biological toxins marks “a war on humanity.” Gupta praised security forces for foiling recent plots but urged vigilance against the evolving face of extremism.
“Terrorism today is not just physical — it’s ideological and digital,” he said. “India must strengthen counter-radicalisation programs in educational and professional spaces and curb the misuse of technology and research.” Calling for public awareness, Gupta stressed that complacency could corrode national institutions. “We must recognise and resist this sophisticated form of terrorism before it poisons our professional fabric,” he said, adding that Jammu and Kashmir stands united with the rest of the country in the fight to preserve peace and national unity.
