LEH: The University of Ladakh (UoL) solemnly celebrated Veer Baal Diwas under the visionary leadership of Vice Chancellor Prof. Saket Kushwaha with great reverence and patriotic spirit, commemorating the unparalleled courage, sacrifice, and unwavering faith of the Sahibzades- Sahibzada Baba Zorawar Singh Ji and Sahibzada Baba Fateh Singh Ji, the revered sons of Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji, the Tenth Sikh Guru.

The programme began with a heartfelt welcome address by Dr. Ashu Rajput, Assistant Professor & Coordinator, Department of Education, who extended a warm greeting to the august gathering, including esteemed Registrar I/C Nawang Tundup, Dean Research Dr. Sonam Joldan, Dean Students’ Welfare Dr. Stanzin Mantok, Coordinators, faculty members, staff, and students of the University. The programme formally commenced with the National Anthem, invoking a sense of unity and national pride.

Veer Baal Diwas, being celebrated annually since 2022, stands as a powerful reminder of the extraordinary bravery and supreme sacrifice of the Sahibzades, who at a very tender age chose faith, truth, and righteousness over life itself. The programme reflected on how their martyrdom symbolizes that true valour lies not merely on the battlefield, but in steadfast commitment to Dharma, Justice, and Moral values.

As part of the event, Registrar I/C Nawang Tondup, Dean Research Dr. Sonam Joldan, felicitated the invited speakers; Dr. Sudhanshu Mani, Coordinator, Department of Travel and Tourism Management, and Dr. Anil Kumar, Assistant Professor, Department of History by adorning them with traditional Khatakas.

In his address, Dr. Sudhanshu Mani emphasized the relevance of Veer Baal Diwas in the context of Viksit Bharat, particularly highlighting its significance for the youth and students of Ladakh.                                                                                      He underlined the role of young minds in nation-building and the need to draw inspiration from the values of courage, sacrifice, and moral strength embodied by the Sahibzades. Dr. Anil Kumar, in his address, elucidated the historical significance of Veer Baal Diwas, elaborating on the enduring legacy of the Sahibzades within the broader framework of Indian history and Sikh tradition.

Both speakers emphasized that the supreme sacrifice of the Sahibzades transcends time and continues to inspire generations. They urged students to imbibe values of courage, ethical conduct, resilience, and national responsibility.

The primary objective of organizing Veer Baal Diwas at the University of Ladakh was to nurture young minds, foster creativity, and inspire students to actively contribute to the vision of a “Viksit Bharat.” The event successfully reinforced the idea that moral courage, integrity, and dedication to societal values define true heroism.

In her vote of thanks, Dr. Ashu Rajput, expressed her sincere gratitude to the Hon’ble Vice Chancellor Prof. Saket Kushwaha for his dynamic leadership, invaluable guidance, and unwavering encouragement, which were instrumental in the successful organization of the programme.

She also extended heartfelt thanks to all dignitaries, faculty members, teaching and non-teaching staff, and students for their enthusiastic participation and support, which added meaning and dignity to the event.

The programme concluded with a group photograph, followed by tea, marking a graceful end to a meaningful and inspiring observance of Veer Baal Diwas.
