Jammu, Dec 26: Senior Bharatiya Janata Party leader Raman Suri on Friday said the observance of Veer Baal Divas stands as a national tribute to the sacrifice of the Sahibzade of tenth Sikh Guru Guru Gobind Singh Ji, reflecting the resolve to preserve India’s spiritual and cultural legacy.
In a statement issued here, Suri said dedicating a day to remember the martyrdom of the Sahibzade was an essential step to keep alive the ideals of courage, faith, and duty. He noted that the lives of Sahibzada Ajit Singh Ji, Sahibzada Jujhar Singh Ji, Sahibzada Zorawar Singh Ji and Sahibzada Fateh Singh Ji continue to inspire generations and remain deeply rooted in the nation’s moral tradition.
Recalling the events of history, Suri said the younger Sahibzade, Zorawar Singh Ji and Fateh Singh Ji, were bricked alive at Sirhind after refusing to abandon their faith, while the elder Sahibzade attained martyrdom while fighting bravely on the battlefield. He described these episodes as enduring reminders of resistance against tyranny and injustice.
The BJP leader said Veer Baal Divas was meant to take this legacy beyond textbooks and transform it into a living source of inspiration, especially for the youth. He added that the observance also reflects the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to place India’s civilisational values and Sikh heritage before the global community.
Paying tribute on the occasion, Suri said programmes organised across the country under Veer Baal Divas aim to nurture courage, ethical strength and a sense of service among young citizens. He added that remembering the Sahibzade reinforces the sacrifices made for faith and freedom, and the principles that must guide the nation ahead.
