NEW DELHI, FEB 18: IT Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw said Wednesday that India is zeroing in on real-world AI uses—like boosting enterprise productivity and tackling massive challenges in healthcare, agriculture, and climate change.
At a research symposium during the AI Impact Summit, he shared his excitement over the huge turnout at Tuesday’s AI Expo, with around 2.5 lakh attendees—mostly under 30. “I was blown away by their optimism when I chatted with these young minds; it gives me hope for a whole new future for India and the world,” Vaishnaw remarked.
He stressed India’s focus: “We’re all about AI at the edge—for practical use cases, solving everyday problems, and scaling up for population-level issues like health, farming, and climate.” Vaishnaw urged symposium participants to propose solid ideas for making AI safe, calling it a powerful tool that must serve humanity. The summit, drawing policymakers, industry bigwigs, and tech experts, is buzzing with talks on AI innovation, governance, and applications.
