Leh, Oct 16: Director of the Social & Tribal Welfare Department, Ms. Kunzes Angmo (JKAS), chaired a review meeting on Wednesday to assess the physical and financial progress of Mission Shakti and Mission Vatsalya at the Directorate office in Leh. The session brought together senior officials and stakeholders from Leh and Kargil, including the Chairperson of the Child Welfare Committee, Kargil, the Protection Officer (Non-Institutional Care), Leh, and district coordinators of the Hub for Empowerment of Women (HEW).
Officials presented detailed reports on initiatives under both missions, highlighting the implementation of child welfare programs, sponsorship and foster care initiatives, support systems for children in need of care and protection, and welfare measures for children in conflict with the law.
Discussions under Mission Shakti focused on programs such as Beti Bachao Beti Padhao (BBBP), Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana (PMMVY), Hub for Empowerment of Women, One Stop Centres, Women Helpline, and Anganwadi-cum-Creches. The meeting also reviewed the financial status and fund utilization under various components, ensuring transparency and accountability.
Ms. Angmo stressed the importance of regular monitoring, follow-up assessments, and data-driven interventions to enhance the effectiveness of programs supporting women and children. She further emphasized interdepartmental coordination and community involvement, particularly in remote areas, to strengthen service delivery and outreach. The meeting was attended by district program officers from Leh and Kargil, Samina Khaton (JKAS), DCPO Kargil Thinlas Dorjay, TSWO Leh, and other officials associated with Mission Shakti and Mission Vatsalya, reflecting a concerted effort to advance welfare initiatives across the union territory.
