WASHINGTON, APR 21: The US government has begun processing refunds linked to tariffs imposed under Donald Trump that were later invalidated by the US Supreme Court.
The refund system, launched by US Customs and Border Protection, allows importers and customs brokers to file claims for tariff repayments. The move follows the court’s striking down of a broad set of reciprocal tariffs, clearing the way for reimbursements.
According to the report, more than $166 billion in tariff-related refunds could be at stake, while the initial phase of the platform covers about $127 billion in eligible duty payments. The agency had earlier estimated that over 330,000 importers may qualify for reimbursements.
