Agra, Jan 27: In a chilling crime, a 32-year-old HR manager was brutally murdered, beheaded, and her dismembered body stuffed into a gunny bag before being dumped near Jawahar Bridge over the Yamuna River, allegedly by her lover, police revealed.
The victim, Minky Sharma from Tedhi Bagiya, worked at a private firm in Sanjay Place where accused Vinay Singh (30), a computer operator, was employed. The two had been in a relationship for over two years, but Singh grew suspicious after learning of her contact with another man, leading to frequent arguments.
On January 23, Sharma left home around 2 PM claiming to go to the office but didn’t return. Her family filed a missing complaint when her phone went off. Early January 24, locals spotted the gunny bag on Jawahar Bridge in Etmadullah area, alerting police who discovered the naked, headless body inside.
DCP (City) Sayed Ali Abbas formed five teams, using CCTV footage from Maruti Plaza, MG Road, and highway cameras showing Singh dragging the bag on Sharma’s scooter toward the bridge. He was arrested after matching the missing complaint.
During interrogation, Singh confessed to luring Sharma to the office, stabbing her neck fatally during an argument, dismembering the body, sealing it in plastic with tape, and packing the head in a backpack. He attempted to dump it in the Yamuna but abandoned it near the bridge upon seeing passersby, later discarding the head, clothes, phone, and scooter.
Police recovered the scooter, murder knife, victim’s clothes, and filed an FIR under BNS Sections 103(1) for murder and 238 for evidence destruction, plus Arms Act provisions. Singh, who wanted marriage but was refused, faces judicial custody with strictest action promised.
