Lucknow, Oct 4: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Sunday said the State has emerged as the country’s fifth-largest exporting state, with Bhadohi’s carpet industry making a significant contribution to its exports.
In a post on X, Yogi said Uttar Pradesh’s exports have increased by nearly 2.27 times over the past decade and crossed the Rs 2 lakh crore mark.
He credited the development to the “double-engine” government, saying the administration had worked to connect traditional craftsmanship with new markets, infrastructure and opportunities.
The Chief Minister highlighted the global demand for Bhadohi’s handmade carpets, saying the region’s artisans have helped showcase Uttar Pradesh’s craftsmanship in international markets.
Yogi said the artisans who have traditionally contributed to Bhadohi’s carpet industry are now benefiting from improved facilities and greater access to global markets.
He also announced that he would inaugurate the golden jubilee edition of the India Carpet Expo, described as Asia’s largest international handmade carpet trade fair, and interact with exporters, sellers and entrepreneurs associated with the industry.
The Chief Minister said the Government’s focus was on strengthening the position of artisans, expanding businesses, creating employment opportunities for youth and promoting economic growth in Bhadohi.
He also announced 112 development projects worth more than Rs 1,340 crore for the Bhadohi, Aurai and Gyanpur Assembly constituencies. Beneficiaries of various government schemes will also be provided assistance during the programme.
