JAMMU DEC 11 : A group of students from Jammu and Kashmir’s Udhampur district visited Rashtrapati Bhavan in New Delhi on Thursday, where they met President Droupadi Murmu as part of a National Integration Tour.
According to the Army’s northern command, which is headquartered in Udhampur, the students’ tour to Rashtrapati Bhavan was organised under a national integration initiative. The interaction with the President drew widespread appreciation online, with many social media users calling for more such programmes to strengthen unity and expose youth from remote areas to national institutions.
Commentators noted that experiences like walking through Rashtrapati Bhavan and meeting the President can broaden students’ perspectives about the country and their own future. Users also highlighted that such tours make national integration tangible for young people from far-flung regions by bringing them to the heart of India’s democracy.
The Army and civil administration regularly organise similar tours for students and opinion leaders from different parts of Jammu and Kashmir to other states to expose them to diverse cultures, languages and development models. Village elders also travel to interact with successful Panchayats, learning first-hand how grassroots governance and Panchayati Raj institutions can help improve rural lives.
