Billawar, Jan 08: Additional Deputy Commissioner Vinay Khosla (JKAS) today convened a meeting of concerned officers at the PWD Guest House, Billawar, to review and finalize arrangements for the forthcoming Republic Day celebrations in the Billawar Sub-Division.
It was informed that the main Sub-Divisional Republic Day function will be held at Government Model Higher Secondary School, Billawar, where the National Flag will be hoisted. The ADC stressed the need for timely, well-coordinated and hassle-free arrangements to ensure dignified and vibrant Republic Day celebrations.
For the smooth conduct of the celebrations, various committees were constituted and responsibilities assigned to concerned departments. Municipality Billawar was entrusted with sanitation and cleanliness, while departments concerned were directed to ensure uninterrupted power and water supply. Adequate arrangements regarding security, medical facilities including deployment of doctors, first aid and ambulances, public address system and media coverage were also reviewed and necessary directions issued. It was further directed that Republic Day celebrations be organized with equal enthusiasm at all Tehsil and Block Headquarters across the Sub-Division.
The ADC informed that a review meeting will be held on January 21, followed by the final rehearsal on January 24. He directed the BDOs and the Deputy Chief Education Officer (DyCEO) to organize awareness activities on January 25 on the occasion of National Voters’ Day, including events and symposiums in educational institutions. All departments were directed to administer the Voters’ Pledge, while a similar event will also be organized at the Sub-Divisional level.
The ADC also directed all departments to sensitize and create awareness among the public against drug abuse at their respective levels.
The meeting was attended by Tehsildar Billawar Surinder Singh (JKAS), BDO Billawar, BDO Mandli, XEN PMGSY, BMO, SDAO Billawar, DyCEO, officers of various line departments, and representatives of Government Degree College (GDC) Billawar and private schools.
