CAIRO, APR 17: Israel and Lebanon have agreed to a 10-day ceasefire starting at 5 pm Eastern later Thursday, US President Donald Trump announced.
Trump shared the news on social media, crediting “excellent” talks with Lebanese President Joseph Aoun and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. He directed Vice President JD Vance and others to work toward “a Lasting PEACE.”
The truce follows Tuesday’s first direct diplomatic talks in decades between Lebanon and Israel in Washington, after over a month of conflict with Iran-backed Hezbollah.
