Kargil, August 16: The 79th Independence Day was celebrated with patriotic zeal at the Kargil Campus of the University of Ladakh, where the national flag was unfurled in a solemn ceremony on Friday.
The tricolour was hoisted by Dr. Mehboob Ali, In-charge Administration, as students and staff stood in unison for the national anthem. The event, organised under the coordination of Lt. Dr. Murtaza Ali, filled the campus with pride and patriotic fervour.
Addressing the gathering, Dr. Mehboob Ali reminded the audience that the true strength of an institution lies in the dedication of its people, not its infrastructure. Paying tribute to the martyrs whom he described as the “immortal guardians of liberty,” he said Independence Day is a reminder of their sacrifice and vision.
Urging teachers to rise beyond classrooms, he called on educators to instill intellectual curiosity, moral integrity, and social responsibility in students. “Teachers not only shape knowledge, but also the conscience of future generations,” he remarked.
The ceremony concluded with a pledge led by Lt. Dr. Murtaza Ali, reaffirming the campus community’s commitment to the ideals of freedom, justice, and nation-building.
The day ended on a reflective note, with participants vowing to serve the country with dedication and honour.
