Jammu, Feb 7: Union Home Minister Amit Shah asserted on Saturday that tourist influx to Jammu and Kashmir remains strong despite last year’s deadly Pahalgam terror attack, urging aggressive promotion of the Union’s destinations.
Speaking at a review meeting on UT development projects, Shah said: “The enthusiasm of tourists from across the country to visit Jammu and Kashmir has not diminished. There is a need for aggressive marketing of Jammu and Kashmir’s tourist destinations in other states to explore the tourism potential available here.”
The BJP-led Centre stands ready to support new tourist spots, he added.
The April 22 attack by Pakistan-backed Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) terrorists at the scenic south Kashmir resort killed 26 people, severely impacting the vital tourism sector.
