Jammu: The appointment of Pargat Singh as the All India Congress Committee (AICC) Secretary in-charge of Jammu and Kashmir has evoked widespread enthusiasm among Congress workers across the Union Territory, with senior leader and DDC Suchetgarh member Taranjit Singh Tony describing him as “the voice of grassroots Congress workers.”
Welcoming the party high command’s decision, Tony said the appointment reflects the Congress leadership’s resolve to reinvigorate the organisational structure in Jammu and Kashmir. “Pargat Singh ji is known to every Congress worker on the ground. His accessibility, dedication, and years of service to the party make him the right choice for this crucial role,” Tony remarked.
He said the move is expected to infuse new energy into the party cadre at the block and district levels while fostering unity within the organisation ahead of forthcoming political contests in the region.
Party workers across Jammu and Kashmir expressed optimism that the appointment would bring renewed momentum to the Congress’s outreach and mobilisation efforts. Many hailed the decision as part of a broader organisational push under the leadership of Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge and AICC General Secretary (Organisation) K.C. Venugopal. “The leadership’s thoughtful approach towards strengthening the party’s base across states has been well received in J&K,” said a local Congress functionary.
