Srinagar, June 13: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Saturday called upon the Kashmiri Pandit community to reconnect with its roots and play an active role in shaping the future of a transformed Jammu and Kashmir, describing their journey from displacement to global success as a remarkable story of resilience, courage and determination.
Addressing the Global Kashmiri Pandit Conclave: From Exile to Excellence at SKICC, Sinha said the gathering reflected both the achievements of the community and its enduring connection with its homeland.
The Lieutenant Governor recalled the hardships faced by Kashmiri Pandits during their displacement in the 1990s, noting that despite immense suffering and uncertainty, the community chose the path of perseverance, rebuilding and service rather than despair.
He said the true triumph of the community lies in its ability to preserve its identity, culture, traditions and heritage despite decades of displacement. According to him, Kashmiri Pandits transformed their struggles into strength and continued contributing significantly to society and nation-building.
Sinha highlighted the achievements of community members in fields such as education, administration, science, literature, arts and public service, stating that their accomplishments across India and abroad remain deeply connected to their roots in Kashmir.
Describing the conclave as a message of hope and renewal, he said the participation of community members in Srinagar reflected growing confidence in the future of Jammu and Kashmir and renewed faith in the region’s progress and security environment.
The Lieutenant Governor emphasized that discussions at the conclave should serve as a roadmap for economic empowerment, social participation and cultural revival, while encouraging Kashmiri Pandits to establish institutions, nurture talent and actively contribute to the Union Territory’s development.
Calling the event a bridge between generations, Sinha said it connected those who experienced displacement with younger generations carrying forward a legacy of resilience and identity.
“A new Jammu and Kashmir is emerging, and the Kashmiri Pandit community has a vital role to play in its future,” he said, adding that the community’s experience, knowledge and leadership would be invaluable in the region’s continued growth and development.
He also stressed the importance of collective efforts towards justice, dignity, reconciliation and the preservation of shared cultural heritage, saying the journey of the Kashmiri Pandit community remains an inspiration for the entire nation.
