Invites investors to explore investment avenues in region
New Delhi, Jul 22: Favouring the initiatives that bring socio-economic transformation to Ladakh, Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, Kavinder Gupta on Tuesday encouraged Indian industrialists to view Ladakh as ‘an emerging hub of sustainable innovation and strategic investment,’ with a vision to make it a model of inclusive, eco-sensitive, and high-impact development.
The LG also invited entrepreneurs, global investors and the Indian diaspora to explore investment avenues in Ladakh.
Highlighting Ladakh’s immense investment potential, the LG specifically mentioned key areas, including eco-tourism and sustainable Hospitality, renewable energy (leveraging high solar irradiance), agro-based industries (organic farming, medicinal herbs), handicrafts & cultural exports, and education and skill development.
Gupta underlined the region’s strategic importance and assured potential investors that the Government of India is dedicated to creating a favourable business environment through attractive incentives, ease of doing business, infrastructure development, and policy stability.
The LG made these statements while meeting a delegation comprising members of the People of India Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PIOCCI) led by its Secretary General, Kirti Sharma and Lalit Mahajan in New Delhi.
They discussed with the LG the foreign investments and boosting economic development in the Union Territory.
The meeting aimed to explore collaborative opportunities for promoting foreign investments across diverse sectors in Ladakh.
The PIOCCI delegation highlighted PIOCCI’s success in facilitating business ties and project collaborations with overseas Indians across sectors, such as technology, agriculture, education, healthcare, tourism, and green energy. They also informed the LG about PIOCCI’s plan to soon organise a Global Investment Summit exclusively focused on Ladakh.
Later in the day the LG Gupta, visited Gurdwara Sri Bangla Sahib in New Delhi to seek blessings of Sri Guru Harkrishan Sahib Ji.
During the LG’s visit, the President of the Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee (DSGMC), S. Harmeet Singh Kalka and General Secretary DSGMC, S. Jagdip Singh Kahlon, honoured the LG by presenting him with a Siropa.
They extended their best wishes to Kavinder Gupta for his new and important role as the Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh.
The LG lauded the role played by the Sikh community in serving society selflessly – from operating community kitchens (langars) to feed the poor, to providing humanitarian aid during disasters and establishing educational and healthcare institutions.
He stated that the Sikh community consistently exemplifies the values of compassion and community spirit. This dedication, the LG emphasised, is a testament to their deep-rooted principles of equality and service to humanity.
