Chiktan, Apr 25 : A plantation drive was organised at Government Council Model Middle School, Zgang Chiktan, on Friday, bringing together students, staff and local residents in a joint effort to promote environmental conservation and sustainable practices.
The programme, held in Chiktan, focused on raising awareness among young learners about the role of trees in maintaining ecological balance. Participants planted a variety of saplings within the school premises, reflecting a collective commitment to greener surroundings.
School authorities, addressing the gathering, underlined the importance of afforestation in tackling climate change and protecting biodiversity. They urged students to take ownership of the planted saplings and adopt environmentally responsible habits in their daily routines.
Teachers noted that such initiatives serve a dual purpose — improving the local environment while nurturing a sense of responsibility among students. They added that hands-on activities like plantation drives help children better understand the long-term value of conserving natural resources.
The event also functioned as a practical learning exercise, enabling students to connect classroom knowledge with real-world environmental challenges.
The programme concluded with participants taking a collective pledge to safeguard the environment and to continue similar initiatives in the future.
