Lucknow, June 12: Hundreds of students and government job aspirants gathered at Lucknow’s Eco Garden on Friday to protest alleged irregularities in competitive examinations and recruitment processes. The demonstration was led by Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) founder Abhijeet Dipke, who called for the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan.
Candidates preparing for teaching, medical, administrative, revenue, and other government examinations joined the protest, expressing concerns over alleged lapses in the examination system.
The rally forms part of a nationwide campaign launched by the CJP, following similar demonstrations in Delhi and Pune. The party plans to continue its outreach with protests in Amritsar and Bengaluru before holding a larger gathering at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar on June 20.
Additional Commissioner of Police (Law and Order) Babloo Kumar said the protest was granted permission after an application was submitted by an individual, Vivek Kumar, on Thursday evening. He clarified that reports suggesting police had denied permission were incorrect.
According to police, the protest has been permitted from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., with participation of around 1,000 people expected.
Addressing supporters, Dipke said the movement aims to highlight examination-related concerns through peaceful and democratic means. He emphasized that the protests are being conducted constitutionally to ensure the voices of students and job aspirants are heard.
