Kargil, Feb 15: In a major boost to youth development and employment opportunities, the Youth Empowerment and Guidance Node Khumbathang has been actively guiding young aspirants from Suru Valley through a comprehensive programme combining physical training and academic coaching aimed at recruitment into the armed forces.
The initiative, implemented across parts of Ladakh, focuses on preparing local youth for competitive defence recruitment examinations through structured daily physical conditioning, endurance training, and academic preparation tailored to written entrance tests.
Officials associated with the programme stated that the initiative is designed to bridge gaps in access to professional coaching in remote high-altitude regions, while simultaneously building confidence, discipline, and career awareness among local youth.
Demonstrating remarkable success, out of 27 candidates trained under the programme, 16 candidates successfully cleared all three crucial stages — physical tests, written examinations, and medical screening — for recruitment into the Territorial Army.
Local community members and families have lauded the effort, calling it a transformative step towards providing meaningful career opportunities to youth in border and remote regions. The initiative is also being seen as a vital contribution towards strengthening national security by encouraging youth participation in defence services.
The programme reflects a steadfast commitment towards youth empowerment, skill development, and nation building, while reinforcing the spirit of service and patriotism among the younger generation of Ladakh.
