JAMMU, Feb 3: Health and Medical Education Minister Sakeena Itoo today emphasized that bolstering current medical infrastructure remains the government’s top priority, with new Medical Blocks to be considered based on need, feasibility, manpower, and resources.
Replying to Legislator Sheikh Ahsan Ahmad’s question during the J&K Legislative Assembly’s Budget Session, the Minister noted Srinagar district—home to over 15 lakh people—currently operates one Medical Block and four Medical Zones under the Chief Medical Officer.
She assured the House that health programs run smoothly with existing setup, facing no major hurdles in service delivery across the district’s eight Assembly constituencies.
Srinagar’s system is bolstered by key institutions like Government Medical College Srinagar, Gousia Hospital, SKIMS Soura, SMHS Hospital, JLNM Hospital, and SKIMS Bemina, which handle patient loads effectively.
