Seoul, Jan 28: A South Korean court sentenced former first lady Kim Keon Hee to 20 months in prison for corruption on Wednesday, just weeks before the verdict in disgraced ex-President Yoon Suk Yeol’s martial law case.
The Seoul Central District Court convicted Kim of accepting bribes from the Unification Church in exchange for business favors.
The ruling precedes the court’s upcoming decision on Yoon’s rebellion charges by about three weeks, following independent counsel demands for the death penalty against the former president.
