Leh, Jan 20: As part of its continued efforts to improve patient care beyond conventional treatment, SNM Hospital, Leh on Monday organised a yoga session inside the medical ward, focusing on the physical and mental well-being of admitted patients.
The session was held within the ward premises, allowing patients to participate without disrupting their treatment schedules. It was conducted by yoga instructor Sonam Yangdol, who guided patients and hospital staff through a set of gentle yoga postures, breathing exercises and relaxation techniques. The exercises were carefully chosen to suit patients undergoing medical treatment, keeping their physical limitations in mind.
During the session, special focus was laid on controlled breathing, light stretching and relaxation practices aimed at easing stress, improving flexibility and supporting recovery. Patients took part actively and shared positive feedback, stating that the session helped them feel calmer, refreshed and more at ease during their hospital stay.
Medical and nursing staff present during the programme noted that such wellness activities play a supportive role in patient recovery. They observed improved morale among patients and said that yoga sessions help create a more positive and relaxed atmosphere inside the ward.
Hospital authorities said that integrating yoga into routine care is part of a broader approach to holistic healthcare. They described yoga as a simple and affordable practice that supports both physical healing and mental balance. The administration further informed that similar sessions will be conducted regularly in other wards of the hospital in the coming days.
By introducing wellness-based practices alongside medical treatment, SNM Hospital continues to focus on patient comfort, emotional well-being and compassionate care.
