Jammu, Feb 23: Notwithstanding the promises and assurances made by Politicians and Bureaucrats, the people of Jammu continue to feel disheartened and betrayed. The people of Jammu are being fooled and failed time and again. The recent trend of unscheduled and unwarranted power cuts has intensified this sentiment, further reinforcing the notion that those in power have failed to deliver on their commitments.
Political leaders, adorned with aspirations of progress and development, have repeatedly assured the citizens of Jammu that energizing their lives with reliable electricity is a top priority.
As claimed by decision makers, the installation of Smart Meters, aimed at modernizing the electrical grid, would usher in an era of uninterrupted power supply. In stark contrast to these claims, the reality on the ground paints a grim picture, as residents of Jammu now face power cuts of over 5 to 6 hours daily.
The very Smart Metres installation intended to enhance service have instead exacerbated the problem, leaving citizens in the dark both literally and metaphorically.
The introduction of Smart Meters was expected to optimize electricity management, promote efficiency, and ultimately reduce power outages. However, Jammu has witnessed an alarming increase in power cuts since their implementation.
A troubling trend has emerged in Jammu, the very politicians and bureaucrats who pledge to serve the people seem to have forgotten their commitments once in power. The narrative has shifted significantly, with the citizens now feeling like mere subjects enduring prolonged periods of power interruptions. Leaders, once batting for free electricity in the region, now resist from even providing adequate supply since hours long unscheduled cuts. Those in helm should know, the people retain the ultimate power.
In this time of discontent, it is essential for the people of Jammu to rise as advocates. The people must hold their leaders and bureaucrats accountable for the promises made, and make sure they serve them for what they were brought to power.
There is a need for a grassroots movement that pushes for transparency, utility management reform, and improved service delivery.
