Leh, Mar 15: The district administration in Leh on Saturday convened a meeting with representatives of political parties and Booth Level Agents to review preparations for the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the electoral roll, with officials stressing the need for coordinated efforts to ensure accurate and updated voter records.
The meeting was chaired by Additional Deputy Commissioner and Electoral Registration Officer (ERO) Leh, Mukul Beniwal, at the Mini Conference Room of the Deputy Commissioner’s Office in Leh.
Officials said the session focused on the revision process and on strengthening coordination with representatives of political parties and Booth Level Agents (BLA-1) from both districts to ensure smooth conduct of the exercise.
During the meeting, Assistant Chief Electoral Officer Leh, Delex Namgyal, briefed the BLA-1 members about the procedure for filling Form BLA-2 and submitting it to Booth Level Officers. He explained that the form plays a central role in the verification of voter details and helps maintain updated electoral records.
Addressing the participants, Beniwal outlined the objective of the Special Intensive Revision, which is aimed at verifying and updating electoral rolls to maintain accuracy, inclusion and a transparent electoral process. He urged the BLA-1 members to carefully follow the prescribed procedures while filling the forms and to clearly understand their responsibilities during the revision exercise.
The meeting also provided an opportunity for participants to raise queries related to the process. Namgyal responded to the concerns and clarified procedural aspects to ensure that the agents were better informed about their roles during the revision drive.
Deputy District Election Officer Leh, Padma Angmo, also addressed the gathering and stressed the importance of timely submission of forms to facilitate coordination and familiarity with the revision mechanism. She informed that training sessions would be organised for members to support the smooth conduct of the electoral roll revision.
Officials said the administration will continue engaging with stakeholders to streamline the revision process and ensure that electoral records in the district remain accurate and up to date.
