LEH, June 23: Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh Shri Vinai Kumar Saxenaon Tuesday participated in the Sindhu Darshan Mahakumbh 2026 in Leh and said the event symbolises India’s unity, heritage and spirituality while enhancing Ladakh’s global profile as a hub of eco-spiritual tourism.
Sharing his thoughts after the event, the Lieutenant Governor said he was honoured to join ambassadors, high commissioners, spiritual leaders, scholars, pilgrims and visitors from across India and abroad at the Mahakumbh.
Describing the Sindhu River as the cradle of the Indus Valley Civilization and a lifeline for ecology and livelihoods, he said the river represents the spirit of national unity and cultural heritage.
The Lieutenant Governor said that since its inception in 1997, Sindhu Darshan has evolved into a vibrant Mahakumbh embodying the vision of “Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat” envisioned by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He noted that the tradition of devotees bringing water from rivers across the country and merging it with the Sindhu reflects India’s diversity flowing into one national stream and also promotes environmental sustainability.
Gupta expressed confidence that events like the Sindhu Darshan Mahakumbh would strengthen local economies, promote eco-spiritual tourism and further establish Ladakh as a land of peace, reflection and global significance.
He prayed that the sacred waters of the Sindhu bring peace, prosperity and universal brotherhood to the nation.
