Leh, Oct 10: The Directorate of Ayush, Union Territory Ladakh, in partnership with the Ladakh Nun Association, conducted a two-day Free Geriatric Health Camp to provide holistic healthcare services to senior citizens under the National Ayush Mission (NAM). The camps, held at HelpAge India in Shey on October 6 and the Tibetan Children’s Village (TCV) Old Age Home in Choglamsar on October 8, benefited over 70 elderly residents.
At the Shey camp, around 30 senior citizens received medical consultations for common ailments including joint pain, migraines, indigestion, phlegm disorders, rheumatoid arthritis, hypertension, and general weakness. Attendees were given personalized diagnoses and provided with free AYUSH medicines to support preventive and integrative care.
Two days later, the Choglamsar camp treated approximately 40 elderly patients with thyroid disorders, arthritis, hepatitis, asthma, constipation, gastritis, chronic joint conditions, nerve disorders, and psychiatric issues. Following tailored consultations, participants were supplied with free AYUSH medicines to address their specific health concerns.
The camps were led by Dr. Kunzes Dolma from the Directorate of Ayush and Ven. Dr. Palmo of the Ladakh Nun Association. Organizers emphasized natural and integrative healing through AYUSH systems, highlighting their role in geriatric healthcare. Residents and staff welcomed the initiative, noting the value of traditional and holistic healthcare approaches for the elderly.
The outreach reflects the Directorate of Ayush’s commitment to accessible, community-centered healthcare, particularly for vulnerable senior populations across Ladakh. The collaboration with the Ladakh Nun Association underscores the importance of partnerships in promoting wellness and raising awareness of AYUSH benefits in geriatric care.
