Leh, May 12: Stressing the need for strengthening educational infrastructure and improving academic facilities in remote areas of Ladakh, Bhanu Prabha inaugurated Government Middle School Skurbuchan as Ladakh Model Middle School Skurbuchan and conducted an extensive review of schools across the Sham region.

Addressing a gathering during the inauguration ceremony, the Administrative Secretary described the occasion as a proud moment for the School Education Department and said the institution carried a rich legacy of producing distinguished alumni. She expressed confidence that the school, under the Model School initiative, would continue to nurture students capable of carrying forward its academic reputation.

The event was attended by Kunzes Angmo, Director Health Department Dr. Tashi Thinlas, District Education Planning Officer Leh Phunstog Dorjey, Nodal Officer Ladakh Model School Chamba Stander, Zonal Education Officer Khaltse Nawang Namgial, Village Education Committee Chairman Lhundup Dorjey, Goba of Skurbuchan village Tsering Paldan, besides parents, teachers, students and local residents.

The inauguration ceremony featured cultural performances presented by students, teachers and parents, including traditional Ladakhi dance presentations.

Officials present on the occasion congratulated the institution on its elevation as a Model School and appreciated the collective efforts of the teaching staff, students and local community in strengthening the institution.

Following the inauguration, Bhanu Prabha inspected several educational institutions in the Sham area, including Government Middle School Saspol, Higher Secondary School Skurbuchan, Government High School Dhomkar Dho and PM SHRI Government Middle School Takmachik.

During the visits, she reviewed infrastructure facilities, assessed the functioning of the institutions and interacted with school heads, teachers, Village Education Committee members and parents to understand administrative, academic and infrastructural challenges faced by schools in the region.

At Government Middle School Saspol, the Administrative Secretary inspected the status of the school building at its new location, while at Higher Secondary School Skurbuchan she reviewed the progress of the new school building currently under construction.

At Government High School Dhomkar Dho, she planted an apple sapling with a student to commemorate the school’s inclusion under the Model School initiative.

The Administrative Secretary also held detailed interactions with students and staff regarding academic requirements, infrastructural needs and overall institutional functioning. She assured stakeholders that the School Education Department remains committed to addressing genuine concerns and strengthening educational facilities across Ladakh, particularly in remote and rural areas.
