Jammu, March 12: In a swift operation that underscores the growing vigilance against cross-border narcotics smuggling, security forces in Jammu have foiled a daring drone incursion from across the Line of Control (LoC). The incident unfolded in the Bishnah area, a border-adjacent village that’s no stranger to such shadowy tactics employed by drug cartels.
It all began late last night when sharp-eyed local residents noticed something amiss—a suspicious packet lying abandoned in a quiet village field. Without wasting time, they alerted the police, setting off a rapid response that turned the tide on what could have been another successful infiltration.
A police team, acting on the tip-off, rushed to the scene under cover of darkness and secured the package. Inside was a hefty consignment of high-grade heroin, weighing approximately 1.5 kilograms. Believed to have been airdropped by an unmanned drone from Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK), the drugs represent a significant blow to the smuggling networks that have plagued the region amid ongoing tensions.
The recovered heroin has been safely taken into custody, with forensic teams now analyzing it for fingerprints, packaging details, and any tech traces from the drone. A full-scale investigation is underway to unravel the syndicate behind this attempt, including potential local handlers and the broader supply chain feeding addiction and terror financing in Jammu and Kashmir.
Officials estimate the street value of the seized contraband at around ₹8 crore in the international black market—a fortune that highlights the lucrative stakes in these illicit operations.
