Mumbai, Jan 1: Actor Chitrangada Singh, who stars alongside Salman Khan in the upcoming war drama Battle of Galwan, says the superstar’s authenticity and lack of pretension set him apart in an industry where “many people wear masks.”
The Apoorva Lakhia-directed film, inspired by the 2020 Galwan Valley clashes between India and China, is among the most anticipated releases of 2026.
Speaking about her co-star, Chitrangada praised Khan for being unapologetically himself.
“He is very tuned into what his fans want him to be and remains exactly that. The most amazing thing about him is there’s zero pretension—I’ve not met anyone else in the industry like him. He is exactly who he is. He’ll speak when he wants to, stay quiet when he wishes to, and if he wants to work out, he’ll just do that,” she told PTI in an interview.
Singh added that Salman’s sincerity and authenticity were rare qualities in showbiz.
“In this industry, a lot is done for effect. What I truly admire about him is that he doesn’t put on any act. It’s hard to do that, and I think that’s what his fans love about him—he’s real,” she said.
Without revealing details about her role, Singh described working with Khan as spontaneous and dynamic.
“He’s incredibly secure as an actor. You can say anything, and he loves to improvise. Scenes keep evolving until everything just clicks—it’s fun and refreshing. He brings a natural spontaneity to every shot,” she added.
Singh also revealed that she and Salman were earlier supposed to collaborate on another project.
“There was a film he wanted to produce with Govinda ji, a remake of a Marathi movie to be directed by Mahesh Manjrekar around 2016-17. That project never took off, and we hadn’t discussed work since then,” she said.
Currently, Chitrangada is earning praise for her latest film Raat Akeli Hai: The Bansal Murders, directed by Honey Singh, featuring Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Radhika Apte, and Deepti Naval among others.
Battle of Galwan is scheduled to release on April 17, 2026.
