INDORE (MP), Apr 27: Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) leader Sunil Ambekar has said the 1947 Partition of India resulted from a “population imbalance” and stressed the need to address similar demographic concerns today.
Speaking at a public interaction in Indore to mark 100 years of the RSS, Ambekar, the organisation’s national publicity and media department head, said “population imbalance” was a matter of concern for society and warned that unequal demographic shifts can alter a region’s identity and weaken its unity and integrity.
He claimed studies show that when those following “original traditions” decline in number, the social and cultural fabric of a place comes under strain, and went on to say: “It was due to population imbalance that the country was partitioned in 1947.”
Ambekar expressed concern about illegal infiltration and religious conversions carried out “through force, inducement and deception,” arguing that these factors also create imbalance in the population and require “necessary steps” in the national interest.
On women’s representation, he said women are capable of securing their rightful place in social and political life, and that their participation in these spheres will naturally increase over time, even as he welcomed greater entry of women into the public domain.
His remarks come amid broader debates on citizenship, demographics, and representation in the run‑up to national and state elections.
