Jaipur, May 13: Rajasthan Police’s Special Operations Group (SOG) has arrested two persons, including an employee of the Rajasthan Public Service Commission (RPSC), in connection with the alleged manipulation of official records to facilitate a dummy candidate in the 2022 school lecturer recruitment examination, an official said.
The arrested accused have been identified as Rajesh Kumar Meena, the main accused and a suspended lecturer (History), and Man Singh Meena, a lower division clerk (UDC) posted at RPSC, Ajmer.
According to Additional Director General of Police (SOG) Vishal Bansal, the case pertains to the School Lecturer (History) Recruitment Examination-2022 conducted in October.
Investigation revealed that Rajesh Kumar Meena, a resident of Karauli district, had allegedly arranged for a dummy candidate to appear in the examination on his behalf as he was not adequately prepared. He allegedly lured an acquaintance, Umed Singh, into writing the exam for him.
To execute the plan, Meena allegedly tampered with his admit card by replacing his photograph with that of the dummy candidate using computer editing tools. The dummy candidate then appeared in both papers of the examination held on October 17 and 18, 2022, and also forged signatures on attendance sheets, officials said.
The accused subsequently cleared the examination and secured an appointment as a lecturer (History), they added.
After selection, Meena allegedly attempted to get the original attendance records maintained by RPSC altered to replace the dummy candidate’s photograph with his own to avoid detection. During this process, he came in contact with Man Singh Meena, an RPSC employee, through a landline connection.
Probe findings suggest that Man Singh Meena demanded Rs 8 lakh to manipulate the records, of which Rs 2 lakh was allegedly paid in advance.
Based on a complaint, an FIR was registered at the SOG police station. Earlier, the dummy candidate, identified as Umed Singh, and another accused, Ramesh Vishnoi (Dhaka), were arrested in the case.
Rajesh Kumar Meena had been absconding since the registration of the case but was recently arrested and produced before a court, which remanded him in police custody till May 18, 2026.
Man Singh Meena was arrested on May 12 after his role in the conspiracy was established, police said, adding that further investigation is underway to identify other possible accused in the case.
