New Delhi, Feb 27: In a major relief, the Rouse Avenue Court today acquitted former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and former Deputy CM Manish Sisodia in the long-running Delhi excise policy scam case probed by the CBI.
Special Judge Jitendra Singh ruled there’s no evidence of criminal conspiracy or irregularities in the 2022 liquor policy, also clearing co-accused Kuldeep Singh. The court noted witness statements were inconsistent and failed to back prosecution claims after reviewing multiple chargesheets naming 23 accused.
Kejriwal and Sisodia attended in person while others joined via video; their lawyers argued no incriminating material linked them to wrongdoing. CBI had pushed for trial, but the judge found allegations lacked merit.
This clears a big hurdle for the AAP leaders in the now-scrapped policy case that rocked Delhi politics.
