Ahmedabad, Apr 14: At the ‘Samajik Samrasta Mahotsav’ in Gandhinagar marking Dr. B.R. Ambedkar’s 135th birth anniversary, President Droupadi Murmu urged moving beyond caste to unite as “haves and have-nots,” fostering harmony rooted in compassion and equality.
“Caste creators are gone; now focus on uplifting the left-behind. We’re all brothers and sisters,” she said at Lok Bhavan, emphasizing villages as India’s soul: “Prosperous villages mean a prosperous nation.”
Invoking Ambedkar’s liberty-equality-fraternity, Murmu stressed education as a fundamental right—especially for marginalized—paired with moral values, health, and clean environments. “Success matters when you help others; government aids, but self-reliance is key.”
She highlighted cooperatives, sanitation, tree plantation, and animal husbandry for growth. Gujarat Governor Acharya Devvrat, CM Bhupendra Patel, and Dy CM Harsh Sanghavi attended.
