Ahmedabad, Mar 29: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Gujarat on March 31, during which he will inaugurate a Jain museum at Koba, launch a semiconductor facility in Snaand, and address a gathering in the newly created Vav-Tharad district, officials said on Sunday.

The PM will also unveil development and railway projects worth over Rs 6,000 crore, said a release by the Gujarat government.

Modi will first reach the Gandhinagar district, where he will inaugurate the newly built ‘Samrat Samprati Museum’ at the Shri Mahavir Jain Aradhana Kendra in Koba village. He will also address a gathering after the inauguration.

The museum is named after Samrat Samprati Maharaj (224-215 BC), the grandson of Samrat Ashoka and a Mauryan ruler known for propagating Jainism and the principle of ‘ahimsa’ (non-violence), said the Jain Aradhana Kendra.

The museum, dedicated to Jain heritage and values of non-violence, houses rare artefacts, ancient manuscripts and sculptures spread across seven galleries, offering a glimpse into India’s spiritual and cultural legacy, it said.

The museum showcases centuries-old Jain art, including stone and metal idols, illustrated manuscripts, coins and traditional artefacts, while also using modern audio-visual technology to create an immersive experience for visitors, the organisation said.

From Koba, Modi will travel to Sanand near Ahmedabad, where he will inaugurate Kaynes Semicon’s Outsourced Semiconductor Assembly and Test (OSAT) facility, being set up at an estimated cost of Rs 3,300 crore, according to the government release.

The plant is expected to significantly boost India’s semiconductor mission and strengthen Gujarat’s emergence as a global semiconductor manufacturing hub, it said.

The OSAT facility will undertake chip packaging and testing, and is expected to produce around 60 lakh chips per day, it said.

In the final leg of his visit, the prime minister will reach Lakhni taluka of the newly created Vav-Tharad district, where he will address a public gathering and virtually inaugurate development and railway projects worth over Rs 6,000 crore, the release said.

These include the 55-km Himmatnagar-Khedbrahma new railway line. The Rs 482-crore project aims to improve connectivity in Sabarkantha district and link the region more effectively with Ahmedabad and Udaipur, it said.

Modi will also dedicate the 27-km doubling work under the Kanalus-Jamnagar section and an 11-km multitracking project between Gandhidham and Adipur, constructed at a combined cost of Rs 257 crore.

During the programme, Modi will also flag off a new train service between Khedbrahma and Ahmedabad via Himmatnagar.

Besides the railway projects, the PM will dedicate and lay the foundation stone of 44 urban development projects worth Rs 5,295 crore across Gujarat. Of these, 18 projects worth Rs 1,868 crore will be inaugurated by him, it said.

Ahmedabad will account for the largest share, with 32 projects worth Rs 4,640 crore, followed by Gandhinagar Municipal Corporation. Key initiatives include infrastructure works, drainage systems, and housing projects under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, benefiting thousands of families, the release said.

The PM will also inaugurate the Heritage Town and Road Beautification Project in Vadnagar, aimed at preserving the historic town’s cultural legacy and boosting tourism, it said. In Patan, a railway overbridge will be opened to ease traffic congestion and improve connectivity for nearly two lakh residents, it added.
