NEW DELHI, Aug 16: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday paid tribute to former prime minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee on his death anniversary, remembering him as an exceptional statesman with remarkable vision and a lifelong commitment to serving the nation.
In a post on X, Modi recalled Vajpayee’s contribution to the country and said his words and efforts continued to inspire generations.
“Remembering Atal Ji on his ‘Punya Tithi’. An extraordinary statesman blessed with remarkable vision, he dedicated his life to the service of our nation,” Modi said.
The Prime Minister said Vajpayee’s leadership played an important role in strengthening the country, while his emphasis on good governance and public welfare continued to offer guidance.
Vajpayee, the first BJP leader to become Prime Minister, was born on December 25, 1924, in Gwalior and passed away on August 16, 2018, in New Delhi.
