Leh, Dec 16: SNM Hospital, Leh on Monday conducted its weekly yoga session in the medical ward as part of its ongoing effort to support patient recovery and staff well-being through complementary healthcare practices.
The session was led by certified yoga instructor Ms Tsewang Dolma, who guided admitted patients and hospital staff through a structured routine of gentle asanas, breathing exercises and relaxation techniques designed to suit individuals undergoing medical treatment. The practices were adapted to patients’ physical limitations and focused on easing stress, improving flexibility and supporting respiratory function.
Hospital authorities said the initiative aims to aid the healing process by addressing both physical and mental health needs within the clinical setting. Emphasis during the session was placed on mental calmness and controlled breathing, which are considered supportive in managing anxiety and fatigue commonly experienced during hospitalization.
Patients participated actively and reported feeling relaxed following the session, while members of the medical staff also joined in, underscoring the relevance of self-care for healthcare workers operating under sustained professional pressure.
Officials stated that the weekly Monday sessions form part of SNM Hospital’s broader approach to integrating yoga alongside conventional treatment methods. The hospital continues to promote such wellness measures, viewing yoga as a supportive tool in preventive, promotive and rehabilitative care within the public health system.
